Read Ephesians 6:10-12

Every day there is a battle going on. A battle for your mind, your affection, your time, your money, your desires. A fight for you. We have a real enemy. In John 10:10 Jesus describes this enemy as the thief, whose purpose is to Stressed Young Womansteal, kill and destroy. 1 Peter 5:8 says, “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.”

In our passage today we read that “we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” We are in a battle. We have an enemy. But we are not to fear!

“Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.” ~Ephesians 6:12 We are called to be strong in the Lord and in HIS mighty power.

Yes, we are in a battle, but “If God is for us, who can ever be against us?” ~Romans 8:31

Yes, we have an enemy, but “the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” ~1 John 4:4

We do not fear because God is on our side. Our God is greater, our God is stronger, our God is higher than any other! In this battle we are called to the front line, we are called to fight back…in the Lord’s mighty power, not our own.

Wednesday we will look at the next six verses, and talk about how we can put on all of God’s armor and stand firm against the strategies of the devil.
