The injustices of this world ignite my passion. Bullies, both big and small. Children, women living in situations where a chance and choice seem like a fairy tale. These things not at the hand of nature or circumstance, but other humans. When humans have  the audacity to treat another human like they are less than it boils my blood. My heart and soul are sparked. My passion ignited.

I believe that people want to make a difference. I believe that when people are made aware of the need and a simple way that the need can be met, that they will rise to the occasion and make a difference.

So, here is an opportunity. A friend of mine goes regularly to Uganda. She leaves in April and is looking to raise funds to feed prisoners, buy mosquito nets and provide formula for infants. You can join  here, there are two ways.

  1. First, I am donating all of my commission from online sales for the rest of March to Laurie and her work in Uganda. So, you can buy Noonday at, you can even support Uganda more fully by purchasing products made in Uganda at this link ==>,382.aspx
  2. You can go directly to Laurie’s GoFundMe page and donate to her work there ==>

Here from Laurie below , feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

“Most of what we need will be purchased in Uganda.
People in prison are cotton-workers.
The Uganda Government wants to produce their own goods.
I can understand that desire.
Their economy really suffers.

They want to produce and sell their own products.
As opposed to bringing in American’s left-overs,
That often end up in the piles of trash where people live.

I don’t want to discourage donations, because if someone needs a shirt, they need a shirt.

And I will take whatever you give me, or figure out a way to ship it if I can.

I don’t know all the answers.
I’m learning as I go.

Priorities that I will bring,
Include baby bottles,
Cloth diapers with snaps.
Non-latex gloves.
And hygiene kits for women.
And hand sanitizer – gel kind.

As well as gifts that women have sewn.

Almost everything else will be purchased in Uganda, to support the livelihood of as many people as possible.

Thank you so much friends!”

You can make a difference. Is this part of your story?

My Broken Heart.

I met a knew friend on Friday morning. I was running late and she was waiting for me with her iced Starbucks drink. The place was packed. I sat down across from her and it didn’t take long before we shared our hearts. They beat together: for justice. I wish you could meet my newContinue Reading

Peace & Loss.

You’ve Got Mail starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks came out when I was in eighth grade. I remember sitting in the theatre loving everything about Meg’s character from her love of New York in the fall to her pencil skirts. I could imagine myself as the owner of a quaint little bookstore in aContinue Reading
