Read Philippians 3:12-21
This past year, I went through a time of confusion. I was confused with God, and what His plan was for my life. I felt alone, tired, and unable to hear God’s voice. I was wanting God to act upon a certain situation in my life, but instead I felt He had abandoned me.
Have you ever felt this way?
God does not abandon us.
During this time, it seemed like I kept hearing this song Press On, by Building 429. Then, looking through my journal one day, I noticed I had written down Philippians 3:14
“I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.”
There is a line in the song that says, “when I still don’t get it, I press on.” There will be times in life when we won’t understand, but we are still called to live each day by faith. Often in the times of silence or confusion, God is asking us to simply trust Him. For me, pressing on meant trusting that God was still present in my life, that He is in control of every situation, and that His plan for me is good.
I am also encouraged by the end of Philippians 3, as Paul gives us even more reason to press on. He reminds believers that “we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.”
Life is hard, but this world is not the end. If we have put our faith in Jesus Christ, we are secured an eternity in heaven, where all is restored. You and I can press on because of this hope, and we can live each day in confidence of our Lord.
In what situation in your life is God calling you to press on and trust Him? Take some time and journal any thoughts or fears you have.
